Welcome to your new Woolsington ward website.

This site gives you the opportunity to 'have your say' and find out what is going on in your local area.

Woolsington Ward covers a large geographical area, from Newbiggin Hall to Woolsington Village. In the ward, tenants of Your Homes Newcastle have access to Newbiggin Hall Housing Office. Parts of the ward are serviced by Blakelaw Housing Office and West Denton Customer Service Centre. These offices provide and support a variety of functions including the collection of rents and other payments and the reporting and monitoring of repairs. The Neighbourhood Wardens are based in the housing offices and the Rapid Response Team work closely with this service.

As well as services and facilities available within the ward, the neighbouring Westerhope, Castle and Blakelaw wards offer additional services including Kingston Park Shopping Centre. Newcastle Airport is to the North of Woolsington Ward.

Have your say….Shaping the Future of NewcastleGateshead One Core Strategy and Urban Core Action Plan Consultation

Gateshead and Newcastle Councils are currently out for consultation on two draft strategic planning documents.  These are the joint One Core Strategy and Urban Core Area Action Plan.

The One Core Strategy sets out the vision, strategic objectives and key policies relating to economy, retail, environment, transport, health, sustainable communities (including new housing provision) and climate change for delivering future development across Gateshead and Newcastle until 2030.

In addition the Urban Core Area Action Plan (UCAAP) will set out the spatial strategy for the future of the urban core of NewcastleGateshead and its function at the heart of the city region. This will be a twenty year strategy for change.

The consultation runs from 4 October to 4 January 2012.  During this time the Council will be hosting a series of Let’s Talk drop in sessions across the city to provide residents with an opportunity to ask officers questions. A full list of the sessions can be found here (pdf 508KB).

Further details on both plans can be found here there is also more information available by reading the Woolsington Core Strategey factsheet  (pdf 4.82MB).

Citywide Road Maintenance

All roads and pavements are inspected at least twice a year. Principal roads and bus routes are inspected monthly. The recent bad weather has had a detrimental effect on roads, so the Council's Highways Team is asking for your help in identifying potholes which need attention.

Please contact Envirocall to report potholes so that we can arrange repairs. When reporting, please provide as much information as possible about the location and size of the hole.
